Office Visits

Complimentary Consultation
Your first visit to our office will be a free exam. Dr. Melita will perform a careful examination of your teeth, jaws, and facial structure. This exam is designed to detect a wide range of orthodontic problems. With these initial findings, Dr. Melita will use your photos to demonstrate the orthodontic problems and discuss the options for treatment, if necessary. She will also give you an estimate of treatment time and cost.
The next step is the taking of diagnostic records. This can either be done at this same appointment (as many patients are ready to move forward immediately) or at the next visit. Diagnostic records typically include a detailed medical/dental history, specialized orthodontic X-rays, and study models of the teeth. These records are used to confirm Dr. Melita's preliminary findings and treatment plan. They are also very helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
Regular Appointments
The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes 60 to 90 minutes. For Invisalign treatment, the appointment is even shorter. You'll then see us at regular intervals 6 to 10 weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 20 to 30 minutes. Most of the shorter appointments can be scheduled in the after school or early morning hours in order to minimize disruption to the school/work day. We make every effort to be on time for our patients.
